Referring friends and tracking referrals
How the YOM referral program works: get your link, share it, your referral saves on their NANO, and you earn commission on the purchase.
in this article
YOM has a referral program that pays you when people you refer buy a NANO. The mechanism is straightforward: you get a personal referral code, share it, the buyer gets a discount on their NANO, and you earn a commission on the purchase price.
how to get your referral link
- Sign in to app.yom.net
- Click your profile in the bottom-left, then go to referrals (or visit app.yom.net/nodes/referrals directly)
- Your unique referral link is shown at the top of the page:
app.yom.net/?ref=<your-code> - Click copy to copy it
The link works wherever a URL works: Twitter, Discord, email, group chats, your own newsletter, a QR code printed on a piece of paper.
how attribution works
When someone clicks your link, a referral cookie is set on their browser. If they sign in within 30 days and eventually register a NANO under their wallet, you’re credited as the referrer.
The chain:
- They click
app.yom.net/?ref=YOURCODE - The cookie is stored (30-day window)
- They sign in within those 30 days
- Their wallet is linked to your referrer code
- When they buy a NANO with your code applied, you earn the commission
There’s no cap on the number of referrals.
what you actually earn
Two things happen on a referred NANO purchase:
- The buyer gets a discount on the product price.
- You earn a commission: a percentage of the product price (excluding VAT).
Your exact discount and commission percentages can vary per program phase. The current rates are always shown in your Referrals dashboard. This is a commission on the purchase, not a share of the buyer’s future session earnings: your referral keeps their full 40% operator share, and your earnings don’t depend on how much they stream. The full mechanics live in the referrals docs.
tracking referrals
The referrals page shows:
- Your current rates: the discount your referrals get and the commission you earn
- Total signups: people who created a YOM account through your link
- Purchases: referred NANO purchases credited to your code
- Lifetime earned: total commission you’ve earned from this program
The page updates with a few hours of lag relative to the underlying on-chain settlement.
tips that actually work
People asking us how to make referrals convert effectively:
- Lead with the rig check, not the NANO purchase. “Check if your gaming PC qualifies in 30 seconds” is a lower-friction click than “Buy a $349 NANO”. Send people to app.yom.net/rigcheck with your referral code attached:
app.yom.net/rigcheck?ref=YOURCODE. - Target people who already have qualifying hardware. Gamers with RTX 3060 or better, wired ethernet, and a habit of leaving their PC on. They convert at 10x the rate of cold audiences.
- Be honest about earnings. Don’t promise specific numbers. Operator earnings depend on utilization and local demand; the docs cite roughly $58/month for a single node at moderate utilization. “Get rich quick” gets you reported to moderators.
things that don’t work (and may get you removed)
- Spamming referral links in unrelated communities
- Faking signups with self-created secondary wallets
- Promising specific earnings outcomes you can’t verify
- Buying ads that use YOM trademarks without permission
The program self-polices: we monitor for suspicious referral patterns and remove fraudulent accounts. The clean way to scale referrals is to genuinely help people learn what YOM is and whether it makes sense for them.
one note on tax
Referral earnings are income in most jurisdictions. Keep records of your earnings (the dashboard exports CSV) and consult your local tax advisor on how to report them.
